Our Story
Founded by Nancy Cabral over 40 years ago, Day Lum began in a small hale ʻoihana (business office) at 40 Kamehameha Avenue in Hilo.
Day-Lum Rentals quickly became a trusted name throughout the East Hawaiʻi kaiāulu (community), growing to manage more than 800 residential and commercial rentals, over 20 homeowners associations, and a Housing and Urban Development Division.
As the company continued to ulu (grow), Day-Lum partnered with Coldwell Banker, expanding its presence with more than 50 real estate agents lawelawe (serving) East Hawaiʻi.
Over time, those divisions evolved into 'eono (six) separate companies, the last of which was Day Lum Hawaiʻi, LLC (DLH), established in 2025.
Today, under the ownership of Sam Willocks, DLH remains a full-service real estate company with five licensed sales agents, Nancy continuing to serve as Broker-In-Charge and Consultant, and ho'okele (managing) more than 200 residential and commercial rentals, and over 30 associations.
Most of our ʻohana (team family) is locally rooted, professional, akamai (educated), highly trained, and dedicated to carrying forward the values of kuleana (responsibility), pono (integrity and doing what is right), and exceptional lawelawe (service) that have guided Day-Lum for more than 'eha (four) decades.
